Trump 2.0: Two billionaires, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead Department of Government Efficiency
While Elon Musk was widely expected to be in charge of DOGE, tasking Vivek Ramaswamy also with the same came as a surprise. The Indian-origin biotech entrepreneur, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination earlier this year, was expected to get a major role in Trump 2.0, with many even projecting his name for Secretary of State.
It is official! Elon Musk will be part of the upcoming Donald Trump administration, and as he has been posting on X for a while now, the Tesla CEO will be in charge of the government's efficiency. Joining Musk in the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is fellow billionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Musk, Ramaswamy join Trump
"Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies — essential to the 'Save America' Movement," Trump said in a statement.

What is DOGE

Earlier, while stating that the Tesla CEO would be part of his administration, Trump had said that the world's richest man would likely not hold any full-time position, given his other commitments.
Will act as outside advisors
According to Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy will work from outside the government to offer the White House “advice and guidance” and will partner with the Office of Management and Budget to “drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.”

What will DOGE do
Cutting down on government expenditure, bureaucracy, excess regulations, and restructuring federal agencies have been among the promises Trump made on his campaign trail. Musk had said that he could cut at least $2 trillion from the US federal budget.
