A shocking incident from an underground performance at Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park in China has gone viral. Check out the horrifying video here:
The incident at an aquarium in China's Yunnan Province has gone viral after footage showed a Russian performer nearly getting her head bitten off by a giant fish.
The shocking attack occurred at Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park, where 22-year-old Masha, a mermaid performer, works.
The aquarium, home to various fish species from the Mekong and Yangtze Rivers, was the setting for her routine when disaster struck.
In the footage, Masha can be seen gracefully performing in the water with large fish, but her performance is suddenly interrupted by what seems to be a sturgeon.
The massive fish, which can grow up to 20 feet long and has been known to attack humans, silently approaches before quickly latching onto her head.
Masha manages to break free and swims toward the surface to escape, visibly shaken. The audience, including children, can be heard screaming in fear.
The sturgeon left her with injuries to her head, neck, and eye, and it also destroyed her nose clip and goggles.
Despite the horrifying ordeal, reports from Russian media claim that Masha's employers forced her to return to work immediately, even though she was in severe pain.
She was given a mere ?78 (Rs 8400) in compensation for the incident but was reportedly told not to discuss it.
The video, however, quickly spread on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, exposing the alarming situation.
